Today's library, tomorrow's 'googlary'?

Would you look to the internet or a library for help?

As time passes from the early 1900's to the late 1990's the world has constantly been undergoing change. One major change is the new resources people of the present are using. In the past, whenever students needed help or were in thirst for new knowledge, they would either find a teacher or head down to the library to search for the necessary materials. However, now people find it much more convenient and easier to use the internet to search for information, through search engines such as google etc, and hence less people would rather use the library instead. The internet brings unlimited information and it can easily be processed at amazing speeds, therefore millions of people around the world have been using the internet. However, that does not mean that libraries are not helpful at all, and I myself would want to use the library instead of the internet for help.

The library is a collection of sources, resources, and services, and the structure in which it is housed: it is organized for use and maintained by a public body, an institution, or a private individual. The library has many resources just like the internet, however what differentiates both of them is the fact that most of the information on the internet is unreliable, whereas most of the information from library books are reliable and trustworthy. Therefore, the library can actually have more reliable information than the internet, and that is why I find it the more useful resource.

In the library, public and institutional collections and services may be intended for use by people who choose not to — or cannot afford to — purchase an extensive collection themselves, who need material no individual can reasonably be expected to have, or who require professional assistance with their research. Therefore, for those lower-incomed families, the library can be an alternative resource for them since they cannot afford to buy a computer.

All in all, I feel that the library is much more useful than the internet as it is very reliable and also because it is free to access.
